Dragon Hunting

Scale: 15" x 17" x 18"

Medium: Papier-mâché

2016

A form was created from balling up newspaper and tape to the general shape of the dragon and paper-mache was placed on top. pieces of wire was used as a form for detail such as the brow, frills, and tongue. Pieces from an old sheet were combined with the flour and water mixture from the paper-mache and were used to create the dragon's skin and scales. Air-dry clay was used for the teeth and ping pong balls for the eyes. Once dry, the dragon received a base coat of black acrylic and dry brushed with purple (save for the areas that are red). Metallic acrylics were then dry brushed to give the dragon a opalescent sheen. A glossy medium was applied to the mouth area to look wet.
