Caladgolg was an ancient sword that was said to have been forged by the dwarves deep in the mountains of the realm. A calamity transpired that rendered the kingdom to ruin but left within the rubble was a greatsword with a hilt of gold and a soul dormant in the jewel upon its crown...

Caladgolg is a replica sword based on a Dungeons & Dragons character description. I had modeled and 3D printed the sword and puzzle pieced it together (it had to be broken into pieces to fit the print bed) with a threaded rod core. It was coated in XTC3D to hide layer lines once together. The handle is wrapped in tennis racket grip tape and leather cord. The center "jewel" is a red paua shell. The sword was primarily painted with spray paints and protected with floor gloss to help retain the chrome finish as much as possible. Weathering was achieved with acrylic/oil paints.
