This prop was made for the Newsies production by Summer Musical Enterprise and operates similar to a Chandler Price Printing Press. It was initially modeled in Fusion 360 to make sure the movement would work properly. Patterns were then pulled from the model and cut primarily from MDF to construct the majority of the press. Aluminum pipes were used for the axels of gears and a spring was added to make operating the press easier. It was painted to look like cast iron with light hints of silver to help sell the metallic look.
